A Cabinet official worth emulating

Finally, a cabinet official after having taken full responsibility for the much criticized “Pilipinas Kay Ganda” promotion program, tendered his irrevocable resignation to put an end to the controversy.

Department of Tourism Undersecretary Vicente Romano admitted that he was the responsible official who undertook the project.  His irrevocable resignation is an honorable act, worthy of emulation by the appointees of the President if they are already a “liability” to him.   Local Government Undersecretary Rico Puno  should have done that long ago.  But what he did was just to "offer" his resignation over the failed August 23 hostage crisis.  He did not submit an irrevocable resignation letter.  I think he was just trying to see how the President would react.  And because he is a close friend of the President, P-Noy did not accept his resignation, instead he was just reprimanded.

We should have more people in the administration with a sense of “delicadeza” like Undersecretary Romano.  If we do, we will have a more responsible and credible government.
