Thoughts on the recent Pacquiao vs. Marquez 3 fight
In my blog about Pacquiao which I wrote just one week before the Pacquiao-Marquez 3, I had said that at that time, I was more confident of a Pacquiao win as compared to all his previous fights. This is because Pacquiao won hands down in all his previous fights since his last loss with Erik Morales in 2005. Either he was able to knock down his opponents or they ended up with swollen, bloodied or broken faces. Although I know that Marquez is a very aggressive fighter as compared with all the others who fought Pacquiao, I was still confident that Pacquiao would win either by knock out or at least by a unanimous decision. My opinion was based on the fact that Pacquiao is a much better boxer now than before. Although I am not discounting the fact that Marquez would also train very hard because he knew Pacquiao very well, having had two previous bouts with him, the first in 2004 wherein the result was a draw, and the second in 2008 when the result was a split decision in favor of Pacquiao. Last Sunday’s fight was a disappointing one for Pacquiao himself and for those who had hoped for a clearer and more convincing victory for him.
This morning, when I saw a video of the fight, I was shocked to see how dirty a fighter Marquez was. Imagine, he kept on stepping on Pacquiao’s foot during the fight, thus allowing him to hit Pacquiao with solid punches, and Pacquiao could not avoid being hit because Marquez was stepping on his foot. Too bad, Pacquiao thought that he had cramps, and that is the reason why he was not as good as his other fights where he was able to knock down almost all his opponents.
I hope this time, those who were thinking that it was Marquez who won will see the light. Marquez is a dirty fighter.
