William Esposo, the Chair Wrecker
I have been reading the Opinion Section of The Philippine Star ever since I could remember. My favorite columnist was the late Max Soliven. Last year, my attention was called to William Esposo. It was because just after Cory Aquino died, he so persevered in writing that Noynoy Aquino would be the best candidate for the Presidency. I was not very convinced in everything he said about Noynoy, that he was the best choice. During that time, I was considering Gibo Teodoro and Richard Gordon. But as days and months passed, after much thought, I decided that Esposo was right. So, given the present circumstances and the need of our country, I voted for Noynoy Aquino.
.Now, Esposo has become the staunchest defender of Noynoy Aquino. After more than six months into the presidency, there are already many criticisms against PNoy. Among them are the police mishandling of the August 23 hostage crisis resulting to deaths of the hostage taker and some of the tourists; a senator even once called PNoy's administration a student council; the existence of the Balay and the Samar factions in Malacañang; even the January 25 bus bombing was attributed as PNoy’s fault because he did not heed the travel advisories of other countries, and the latest is the claim that COPA (Council on Philippine Affairs) is now disappointed with his administration.
The Chair Wrecker has been refuting all of these adverse criticisms against PNoy point by point, which I think is good so that people would not just believe everything that they read or hear, hook, line and sinker.
We readers must not just believe everything that we see or read. We also have to think and analyze the events and the reason why people say or write something. We must listen to both the critics and the defenders. Furthermore, we must not focus on the negative.
What we need now is to pray for President Aquino, that God will give him wisdom and guidance as he makes important decisions and govern the country in such a way that will propel it to prosperity. Isn’t that what we want for our country?
The Bible says:
“I urge, then, first of all, that requests, prayers, intercession and thanksgiving be made for everyone – for kings and all those in authority, that we may live peaceful and quiet lives in all godliness and holiness.” 1 Timothy 2:1,2
“Righteousness exalteth a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.” Prov. 14:34
