Delight yourself in the Lord

Psalm 37:4 “Delight yourself in the Lord and He will give you the desires of your heart.”

The verse above has been a reality in my life.  For many years in the past, although I never mentioned it to anybody, I had secretly wanted to see America.  It seemed an impossible dream for me, so I just let it go.  I had thought that if it’s God’s will, someday, I would be able to see America.

However, in 2003, I mentioned to some of my siblings that it was my secret wish to see America.  Then one day in 2006, to my delight and surprise, my sister who was already settled in Texas made an overseas call and told me to apply for a tourist visa, and she would shoulder all expenses for this travel.  I was so excited.  I compiled all the documents that I would need for the visa application.  The consul approved my application, and in February 2007, I left for the U.S.A. From the bottom of my heart, I am grateful for the opportunity given by my generous sister.

There I saw some parts of America.   For me, it was an awesome experience.  Compared to Asians, Americans are a lot bigger, and I think it is because of the abundance of food. 

The Lord indeed is faithful in His promises.  When we find joy in reading God’s Word, and in obeying His commandments, God will give us what we long for even if we don’t ask for it because He already knows our desires.
