Reminiscing my first travel to North America
It was on a Friday, February 23, 2007, my first travel to North America to visit my brother and sister in Houston, Texas. Although it was supposed to be a 20-hour travel time, and I was supposed to arrive at my destination the same day (simply because Philippine time is several hours ahead in all States of the United States), that did not happen.
Due to an engine trouble which occurred while the plane was still at NAIA, there was a delay and change of itinerary (original itinerary: Manila-Narita-Minneapolis-Houston). The scheduled 7:50 am take-off at NAIA did not happen. The plane took off at NAIA at 4:40 pm and arrived at Narita in the evening. The connecting flight at Narita was on the following day, February 24 at 5:15 pm, a direct flight to Houston, where I arrived at 1:50 pm, Saturday, February 24, Texas time. But the delay was okay with me because I was able to be in Japan for almost a day, and while there, I stayed at Hilton Hotel which was a delightful experience for me, although it was very cold that time in Japan. I wondered then, would it be cold in Texas?
However, when I arrived in Texas, winter was just a few days over. I asked my sister, did that mean that I would not see anybody using furs? My sister quipped, if you really want to see someone wearing that kind of suit, come during winter and attend a grand party.
