For the past three years Christmas Eve has been a blessed time for me and my family. We would all gather together in my house, including the family of my son-in-law. We would eat dinner, play games, turn on the
videoke and the singers in the family would take turns in singing.
Then, about an hour before midnight, my son-in-law who is a musician,
would lead us in singing Christmas carols. My other son-in-law who is a
pastor would give the Christmas message, then encourage all of us to
share what God has done for us during the past year. My heart is
blessed every time we did this. Last night, all of us shared why we are
thankful to God, even my 6-year-old grandson Jed! We thought he would
not last until midnight because last year, he was already sleeping when
we were having our sharing time. However, last night, he was the one
who had the most to say. And everything he said made very good sense.
Among other things that he said was that he was thankful for his parents
who love him very much and have been disciplining him, that Christmas
is all about God, and although he loves to receive gifts, he emphasized
that Christmas is really about God. Isn’t he adorable?
The past year had its ups and downs, but because God is good and faithful in His promises, after the downs, there are the ups. God did not promise a life that is full of roses, but He promised to be there with us always and all we need to do is call on Him. I have many things to thank God for. I thank Him for my hard working husband, for my children, for their husbands who are good men, for my adorable grandson, and for godly friends. I thank Him for protection, for good health, and for supplying our daily needs. I thank Him for giving me another year to live.
After everybody had shared, my pastor son-in-law led us in prayer, and Jed, knowing that after the prayer, the gifts will be opened, was excited to get all his gifts under the Christmas tree. What a blessed time! I thank God for my family, and most of all, I thank God for sending His only Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, to be our Savior. The Lord Jesus Christ is the reason for the season!
