Why are Filipinos optimistic in spite of adversities?
The next Inbox World question: Why do you think optimism remains very high among Filipinos in spite of adversities?
Optimism is the ability of an individual to hope for better things – be it for a better life, for a better future, or for better things to happen. An optimistic person is hopeful, cheerful, with a confident outlook for a better tomorrow. This is a trait that Filipinos have which makes them resilient in spite of adverse circumstances. Filipinos in general are a religious people. As such, they pray to God, who they have been taught as a merciful and forgiving God.
One more thing that makes Filipinos optimistic nowadays is that they are still hopeful that the leader they have chosen would not fail them, that in spite of the blunders of the current administration, they are still hoping that because the President is honest and sincere, the future of the Philippines will be better.
So we can count optimism as another good trait of the Filipino, in addition to hospitality and resilience.
Yes, we Filipinos are generally religious in nature and cling to our faiths in all adversities. In spite of the blunders of choosing a few bad leaders in the past we continue to hope, even forgiving to a fault as in the case of the Marcoses who are once more in power with their minions, in their bailiwicks , some of them acting as critics and obstructionists. All these at the expense of our economy moving 2 steps backward and just a step forward. When oh when can we get going and make up for lost time? But the Pinoy in me says ''hope springs eternal" There a lot of things that a young democracy like ours has yet to experience and learn from. Hopefully, we see the light of dawn in our lifetime.
