Our Go-Between

Jesus.  Lord.  Master.  Savior.  Friend.  Son of God.  Priest.

Priest?

Why in the world would we need a priest today?  Rams, bulls, sacrifices, smoke, fire?  That’s Old Testament language, right?

Consider this.  We need a mediator, a go-between.  Someone to intercede between us and God, a middleman.  Jesus.  True God and truly human.

We’re much too weak to handle our own relationship with God.  We don’t have the holiness to come into his presence.  We don’t have the ability to wipe out the past, to make amends for all we’ve done.  But there is One who can!

Jesus Christ is that very person – appointed by his Father to be our Priest, to plead our case before God, to understand us totally to really know and really feel where we are and where we’ve been and where we’re going.

How about you?  You who feel that your days of usefulness are over.  You who are weary and burdened.  You who have experienced a loss that has left a seemingly irreparable hole in your heart.  Do you need a priest who really understands you, who can take all that you are to God?

Your loving God has appointed Jesus to act on your behalf.  Trust him to take up your case.  Let him then release you to live in the liberating power of his acceptance.
