Life is about living for God
The Lord Jesus Christ is the Shepherd of my life. God had allowed me to be born as a normal and healthy baby to my parents. Through my parents, God nurtured me physically, and through His Word, He taught me that life is His gift for me, and because it is a gift, I must take care of my body.
Later, when I received the Lord Jesus Christ as my Savior, I learned
that my body is the temple of the Holy Spirit, and because of that, I
must all the more take care of it and not abuse it.
Somewhere, I read this saying: “What you are is God's gift to you, what you become is your gift to God.”
This made me more aware that I owe my life to God, and for this, I must strive to become the kind of person He has purposed for me to be. This is a very hard thing to do. The thought just scares me. I know I am a sinner, and although I have received the Lord Jesus Christ into my life many, many years ago, I am still in the flesh, and my sinful nature would surely make me do things that are not pleasing to God.
In Galatians 5:16-18 the apostle Paul said, “So I say, live by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the sinful nature. For the sinful nature desires what is contrary to the Spirit, and the Spirit what is contrary to the sinful nature. They are in conflict with each other, so that you do not do what you want.”
Living for Jesus, a life that is true,
Striving to please Him in all that I do;
Yielding allegiance, glad-hearted and free,
This is the pathway of blessing for me.
Refrain:
O Jesus, Lord and Savior, I give myself to Thee,
For Thou, in Thy atonement, didst give Thyself for me;
I own no other Master, my heart shall be Thy throne;
My life I give, henceforth to live, O Christ, for Thee alone.
Living for Jesus Who died in my place,
Bearing on Calv’ry my sin and disgrace;
Such love constrains me to answer His call,
Follow His leading and give Him my all.
Living for Jesus, wherever I am,
Doing each duty in His holy Name;
Willing to suffer affliction and loss,
Deeming each trial a part of my cross.
Living for Jesus through earth’s little while,
My dearest treasure, the light of His smile;
Seeking the lost ones He died to redeem,
Bringing the weary to find rest in Him.
