Love God with all your heart

Having retired from my job 5 years ago, I now have more time to ponder about many things and to think about life.  Being born in a country where the predominant slogan is “survival of the fittest”, people who want to improve their economic status would strive very hard to attain their ambitions to position themselves at the top of a company.   They work very hard and have become too busy that they forget that there are more important things than having a very good career.   Oftentimes they take their families for granted.  They don’t  spend time to be with their families, to bond with their loved ones.  And their excuse is that they are working hard for them.

Our Lord Jesus said the most important thing in life is to love God with all our hearts and to love our neighbors as we love ourselves (Matt. 22:37-39).

“He (God) has showed you, O man, what is good.  And what does the Lord require of you?  To act justly and to love mercy and to walk humbly with your God.” Micah 6:8

So, if one is to obey God’s commandments, he must first love God with all his heart, second, he must love his neighbor, which of course would include his family, then his work, then help others in ways that he is able to.
