Carmen Pedrosa
I am an ardent fan of Carmen Pedrosa, the author of the famous books “The Conjugal Dictatorship” and “The Rise and Fall of Imelda Marcos”. I enjoyed reading these 2 books. Because of these two books I have learned to like her very much. Maybe because writing these books showed her courage and bravery during martial law.
However, I sensed something that I didn’t like when she wrote something “ugly” about Noynoy Aquino at the height of the past presidential campaigns. She wrote that Noynoy had consulted a psychiatrist when he was young, which would make the people believe that there was something wrong with Noynoy. That he would not be fit as a president.Ever since I have been reading the Opinion section of newspapers, almost everything I read is negative. Can writers only see ugly things? Are they born just to criticize? Is that their purpose for writing? Well, I am not familiar about the purpose of journalism, but having heard of the term “freedom of the press”, I have accepted that their reason for writing is to make people aware of everything that is happening. Well, I admit, we must be aware of everything that is happening around us, but we should not dwell on the negative things… Dwelling on the negative would only make us so depressed.

Carmen Pedrosa is also a favorite columnist especially when she fought the Marcos regime. But when she starts to be biased I am turned off. (comment from Linda Cerna)
