FINANCIAL FREEDOM
In that seminar, Financial Freedom was defined as “the ability to live the lifestyle you desire without working and without having to rely on anyone else for money”.
Moreover, it was discussed that if a person has extra money (“extra money” means money that he will not need for necessities such as food, clothing, home, education and health), he should let that money work for him (through investment), and not he working for the money.
Come to think of it, a person can really achieve financial freedom later in life. That is, if he started life the right way. If from his childhood, he was a diligent student and an obedient child. It is not necessary for him to be very intelligent. A person with average intelligence will do, and a good character is of utmost importance. An intelligent person with a bad character will not prosper. Yes, he might prosper in the beginning, but problems will come later. I am now thinking of some of the very intelligent people in the government. They are very intelligent that is why they landed in the top government positions, but later, they became corrupt because of lack of integrity.
Going back to financial freedom that I think any person with firm determination can achieve. If a person is God fearing, obedient to parents, hard working as a student, and even as a lowly employee, not greedy for material things, he can achieve financial freedom later in life. The secret is to live within one’s means.
“But godliness with contentment is great gain. For we brought nothing into the world and we can take nothing out of it. But if we have food and clothing, we will be content with that. People who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge men into ruin and destruction. For the love of money is the root of all evil. Some people, eager for money, have wandered from the faith and pierced themselves with many griefs”. (1 Timothy 6:6-10)
