The first wedding in the De Jesus family

My sister Raida was the first to get married in our family.   It was on June 23,  1973 that she married her Pakistani boy friend whom she met when she was working as cashier at Febias College of Bible, and he was a student there.  Two weeks after the wedding, they left for Pakistan to settle there.

Raida was the sister that was closest to me since she came after me so I was saddened by her absence.  We had regular communications with each other for the first few years following her departure to Pakistan through exchange of letters.

She told me that adapting to the Pakistani ways was very difficult for her, but as years went by, she was able to adapt and absorb the culture.  She and her husband Ifrahim have 3 children: Debbie, Doreen and Brian.

Below are 2 pictures: one on her wedding day and the other is Raida's family picture.
