Worthy Is The Lamb
WORTHY IS THE LAMB
Thank you for the cross, Lord
Thank you for the price you paid
Bearing all my sin and shame, in love you came
And gave amazing grace
Thank you for the scars, Lord
Thank you for the nail-pierced hands
Wash me in your cleansing flow, now all I know
Your forgiveness and embrace
Worthy is the Lamb
Seated on the throne
We crown you now with many crowns
You reign victorious!
High and lifted up
Jesus, Son of God
The darling of heaven crucified…
Worthy is the Lamb
This morning at the church, the above song was again sung. As usual, the song did not fail to make me cry. I hope it is not just emotion, but the feeling was so strong. I can now recall the first time I heard the Gospel in my early teens in the first summer youth camp that I attended. That was the first time I realized the real reason why the Lord Jesus Christ died on the cross. Jesus Christ died on the cross to pay for the penalty of people’s sins.
I have heard that statement many times before. When I was a kid, my mother used to take me with her to church, and I would see so many statues inside the church and I was told that they were saints, and there in front was a big cross with an image of a man nailed on it with a crown of thorns on his head, and I was told that it was Jesus Christ. But it didn’t make any difference to me. Yes, Jesus Christ is the Son of God, and He died to save us from our sin. So, that’s good, so we can be forgiven.
But in that camp, the preacher told us that Jesus’ death on the cross would only make a difference in a person’s life if he, himself would make a personal decision to receive Him into his life. That means I must receive Him as my own Lord and Savior – and not just look at Him as the Savior of the world. That is mere head belief, just mental assent and that is not enough. I must make a personal decision. So, one evening in that youth camp, when the preacher gave the invitation to the congregation to receive the Lord Jesus Christ into their life, I was one of those who came forward. Somebody explained to me that receiving the Lord Jesus Christ meant forsaking everything that is not pleasing to God, and turning toward God. I prayed to receive the Lord Jesus Christ into my heart and on that day, I became a child of God. From that time on, I looked at the Lord Jesus Christ as someone who I can talk to, to share my joys as well as my anxieties, someone I can cry my heart out to every time I have struggles and problems. In other words I began to have a personal relationship with Him. He is not a distant God who cannot feel my pain and my struggles. Thank you, Lord!
